About the Book

Justice is a machine in 2026 Delhi, but the truth is still written in ink.

Justice Sanyal is an analogue man in a digital republic. As Delhi embraces AI surveillance and automated laws, Sanyal remains devoted to the physical record and keeps a cheap wooden pen hidden in his desk drawer. The “Phansi” pen is reserved for signing death warrants; once the ink dries, its nib must be broken so it can never take another life.

Then comes the Bastion Case. A wealthy family has been brutally murdered in their Lutyens home, and a furious public demands justice. Two migrant labourers are arrested, but Sanyal senses that the digital evidence has been carefully manufactured. Surgical- grade gases, windows shattered from within, and mysterious figures in thermal footage reveal a truth the system was designed to suppress.

Trapped under Z-category security, Sanyal realises his protectors are his jailers. With his daughter Ananya fighting back from the shadows, will he sign the verdict, or break the system before it breaks him?
